Longarm quilting at the Stash House

Did you know the Stash Houses offers access (and membership discounts!) to both of our longarm quilting machines?

All about our Longarm machines

HQ Sweet Sixteen Stationary Longarm Quilter

There is no limit to the size of quilt that will fit, but it may get unruly to wrangle something huge!

  • 30” x 36” table surface

  • >8” vertical space

  • 16 inches of throat space

This machine was generously donated to us by a member of the community!

HQ Moxie XL Longarm Quilter

The maximum size quilt that will fit on the Moxie XL Longarm is a Queen (~90 inches wide).

  • 8-foot HQ Loft Frame

  • 15-inch throat space

Through the support of a matching grant and our wonderful community, we were able to purchase a Moxie XL Longarm Quilter!

We are starting to offer in-house quilting services and orientations to help you learn how to use the longarm quilter yourself! Because of the investment from the community and the technical knowledge necessary to maintain this equipment, there will always be a staff member nearby for guidance and support during this machine’s reservation hours. In order to cover these labor costs, we are offering time on the machine for rent to the public and at heavily discounted rates for our Stash House members.

We can also special order different types of batting from Quilters Dream for you! Ask us for details in person or when you submit a long arm quilting inquiry form

  • For the Moxie XL longarm, you do not need to baste your quilt together in advance!

For the stationary longarm quilter, you will need to baste your quilt. You can do this on-site in our studio or before you arrive

To quilt on either longarm, you will need:

    • A fully assembled quilt top, ironed with threads trimmed

    • Backing at least 6” wider and longer than the quilt top

    • Batting (available for purchase on site!) at least 6” wider and longer than the quilt top

Attend one of our longarm orientation sessions to learn more!

  • Currently the robot is only available for trained staff. We are happy to quilt your quilt for you, see prices for this above

  • Yes!

    • We can create a quilt back for you from yardage

    • We can bind your quilt by hand or by machine ($0.12-0.25 per inch)

  • Yes, for an additional $25 set up fee

  • We have a limited selection of thread available in different weights and colors included in the reservation fees. If you don’t like what we have on hand, we can order thread for you for an additional fee, or you can supply your own.

If you choose to supply your own thread for Moxie XL, we suggest Gutterman Mara 100 or OMNI thread. We are particular about what threads are used on the machine due to potential lint buildup interfering with the robot.
